~So much to be thankful for~

We had quite a scary day today.  I took Max and Madilyn to the Dr. for their routine check ups (6 months and 2 years).  Everything was great with Max.  He's in the 40th percentile for weight and 50th for height.  He had to get four shots but he did ok.

Then it was Madilyn's turn.  I had a couple questions for the Dr.   So I asked him about her gums.  They have been really red for about 4 months now and they don't seem to be getting better.  Ever since she got that mouth infection.  Anyway, he took a look at them, and he looked pretty confused.  He ruled out gingivitis because the irritated area was more like in the crease where her lips meet her gums, rather than where her gums meet her teeth.

He then asked me if she's been bruising a lot lately or if she's been having nose bleeds.  I told him she had quite a few bruises right now, but nothing that I thought were out of the ordinary.  But she has had a couple nose bleeds in the last couple of months.  After that he told me that he wanted me to take her to the hospital and get some blood work done on her to rule out Leukemia.

At first I was just like, "ok, we'll get to the hospital, get this taken care of and ruled out and everything will be fine..".  But after it sunk in for a minute I just started shaking so bad and was so nervous.  I called Mike and my mom and our families and asked them to pray for her.  It just was so scary wondering if this was the moment that our lives would change forever.  Mike came home and we had his mom stay here with Max.  So both of us were able to be with her when she was having the test.

She did so good when they were taking her blood.  I was so proud of her!  She didn't move a muscle or cry or anything.  She just sat there staring at the needle.  After she was done they gave her a stuffed animal and some cookies so all was good!  It was so hard waiting to hear from the Dr.  It took about 3 hours and then I finally called asking if they had the results yet.  She said they had just gotten them in and were about to call us and that everything was great!

Talk about relief!!  I felt so overwhelmed with gratitude that she was healthy and I couldn't wait to give her a big hug and lots of kisses (she was napping :).  I've had so many mixed emotions today and it's been such a rollercoaster.  My heart just goes out to all of those who don't get good news.  Who actually have to watch their children go through such scary diseases.  I can't imagine how they feel!  It has just really put things in perspective and it's been nice to remember what is really important in life.  I'm so thankful to Heavenly Father for all of the blessings he has given us.

Fun Day!

Today we went up to my mom's house and I took some pictures of the kids playing outside.  Maddie had so much fun while we were there and didn't get a nap until we got in the car to come home at 3:30.  She conked out the second we got in the car and then right when we walked in the door she took her blankie to the couch and went straight to sleep.  She must have been exhausted because she NEVER does that!  Anyway, here are some pics :)

Max's Mohawk

So I had some fun with Max's hair yesterday.  Mike came home and laughed.  I think he thought it was a joke.  haha :).

Here is a recent picture of Maddie's bedroom.  I'm excited because awhile ago we bought a new little nightstand and a cute Hello Kitty bank (I LOVE Hello Kitty).  Anyway, I just thought I'd post a picture of it.  Oh, and by the way, Madilyn is FACSINATED with the lamp.  Every time I turn my back the lamp is on.  I'd say it's on probably 90 percent of the day.

I must say. . .

I love Tyson Grilled Chicken Strips!!  I hadn't ever tried them before, but I bought them randomly last night at Target and they're so good.  I made a Grilled Chicken Quesadilla with them today for lunch and I think I'll do Cesar Salad with them tomorrow.  Mmm, mmm, mmm.  I just wanted to recommend them to everyone!  They're overpriced, so I'm sure I won't get them very often; but they're way easy to just throw on a salad or into  pasta if you need a quick meal.

Playing outside!

Today has been so nice!!  I got some more pictures of Maddie playing around outside.  I don't have any of Max because he was taking his morning nap.  Anyway, I thought Maddie would have a blast, but she has been cranky today!  I don't know what's wrong, but she sure is not a happy camper.  The lawn people were here with their weed wackers and stuff making a lot of noise, which scared the pants off Maddie.  And then she wanted to stay on the swing forever, but we couldn't because Max was asleep in the house and so I wanted to stay close.  So, she isn't very happy in these pictures, but she still looks cute!

Here she is being very concerned about the lawn mower across the way.

I think this picture's funny.  She looks like she's posing.

She felt better when I let her play with some dirt and sticks for awhile

But when we went inside the tears started flowing again.  She had to put on her shades too  :)

I definitely love being able to go outside and play now that Spring is here.  But, oh my, bringing her back inside is like pulling teeth.  I don't enjoy that part!

Silly Madilyn

I just wanted to post some funny pictures from the last couple days.  Madilyn just cracks me up lately.  I love how she is showing more and more of her personality everyday.  Some funny things that she says on a daily basis are, "You okay ma?" and when she looks in the pantry for a snack she say puts her hands on her hips and says "What do I want?".  I love how she learns more words everyday.

These first pictures are from yesterday after she woke up from her nap.  When I had put her down, she was just in a white smocked shirt with some blue polka dot leggings.  But when I went in to get her she had taken her leggings off and put them back on inside out.  And then she had found another shirt in her room that she tried to put on.  So anyway, this is what she was wearing when I found her. . .

This is from this morning when she was doing a puzzle in our hamper.  Nice static-y hair!

And her first braid!  Yay!!  It's getting there...   I'm dying to be able to do more with her hair.  And I LOVE braids!!  Especially french braids.  We'll see if I'll be able to figure those out.

Max meets Tyson!

Here are some pictures of Max and his new cousin Tyson.  They're only six months apart, so they will be buds growing up!  I cannot believe what a difference 6 months make.  Babies get big SO FAST!!

I think Max was bugging him.  It looks like Tyson had had it! :)

Discovery Museum

Mike has been working so much these last couple of weeks!  He had to pull an all nighter at work on Wednesday and has just been at it non-stop.   He ended up finishing his project last night and so he took today off.  It was so nice!  We decided to go up to the Gateway and take the kids to the Children's Museum there.

I was hoping that because it was a weekday, it wouldn't be very busy.  Boy, was I wrong!  It was still a mad house!  But Madilyn had so much fun and just got completely worn out.  Max was such a good boy too while we were there.  I thought he'd get way bored sitting in his stroller, but he did pretty good!

I love the days where it feels like Saturday (like today) but it's really not, and we still get to have Saturday tomorrow.  Haha :).  Kind of like Monday holidays...I love those too!

Anyway, here are some pictures of our adventures!

Picking onions in the garden area. IMG_4406

Maddie seems to stick her tongue out like this when she is nervous.  I think she was a little scared because I put her in the car when this other kid was still in there. IMG_4407_edited-1

Looks like she is really loving the horse!  Haha :)IMG_4411_edited-1

Madilyn's favorite part was the grocery store area.  IMG_4419

This is what Max did most of the time.  Looks like he's having a ball, eh?IMG_4424

This is right after the controller flung back and hit her in the eye.  She didn't like the helicopter much after that.  IMG_4458

This is what Max did most of the time.  Just hung out.  Mike was the one who pulled his socks up to his knees.  IMG_4467
